Tool, Hydra, Neurot.

My disappointment runs mad with viscaral vengence today, as I lost out on getting tickets to Tool's pre-Europe US date in Chicago, IL on May 13,2006. This is a sad...very sad day for me. But, I clutch onto the knowledge that I will have 10,000 Days in my hands next week.... Plus, I grabbed two limited edition copies of Lateralus on vinyl. Vinyl (for all you scene kids) is a record that is played on a turntable (kinda like what your mom and dad have downstairs in boxes). Anyways. I'm caught up with a new addiction to collecting vinyl. Namely, rarities and most bands from Neurot Recordings and Hydra Head Records. For those that are unaware, both of these labels harbor the most amazing bands to grace my earwaves, such as Red Sparowes, Neurosis, ISIS, Tribes of Neurot, Jesu, Botch, Knut and so on.... Scene kids are missing a vital element in life. Prog-inflected rock and roll. And I gotta say, it was oddly refreshing for me to wait in line for a concert this morning, and not to find myself battling awful haircuts and studded white-belters. Even though I lost out on these important tickets. Ahhhhh....the fresh air in progressive music is right around the corner once again, and I will begin to think clearly for a change.

With love and cookies,
~dave

LISTENS: Neurosis, Fantomas, Emerson Lake and Palmer.
